Yup Robert - I take your point entirely ... and we need to look for the right constraints to prevent your scenario.

As I said, every writer is going to have a different perspective on this, and an individual's perspective may change depending on circumstances. I'm certainly not recommending that every writer should do as I do. But, since my primary objective with my first novel is to show as many people as possible what I do, then the pirates might help me to get my job done, giving me a head-start with the next book .. or the one after. Then I might feel differently about it.

I am perfectly fine with points #1 and #2.
With #3 I start to feel a little iffy.

I am very strongly opposed to #4.
I mean good grief, that one should be a no brainer as a no-no.
What I mean is I will use this as a case scenario.

Greedy person sets up a web site. Buys 1 copy of all your ebooks. Puts them on his web site for sale at half the price of yours. Spam bombs everybody (using spambot email collectors) about his fantastic site that sell ebooks at half price.

Now where are you going to buy ebooks from? Most people liking to pinch pennies will be buying from that greedy person. Will you see the money? You will see the profits from the ONE copy he bought. Otherwise he will get all the money from YOUR books.

Tar and Feather #4 and kick that puppy out the door.
